Born and raised in Southern California, Mr. Wood Joined the Air Force at 17, spending the next 35 years serving on active duty and a reservist. He received an AS degree in Meteorology from the Community College of the Air Force; a BA in Political Science from the University of West Florida; a Master's in Public Administration from the University of West Florida; and a Certification in Health Care Administration from the USAF School of Health Care Sciences.
Having the honor of serving 35 years in the Air Force, Greg rose through the ranks to retire as a Lt Colonel. He also commanded Air Evacuation units in support of Iraqi Freedom including Balad AB, Iraq.
Later he served as a City and County manager in Florida and Georgia, but also various specialized positions such as economic development and emergency management in a purposely eclectic background to gain the skill set to function as a local government CEO/CAO.
Greg Wood is married with two daughters, one granddaughter, and two dogs – one rescue and one "Panda" German Shepard. Mr. Wood enjoys woodturning and photography, finds his favorite part of Crossville to be the climate, the location and the many recreational opportunities.
