Safe Route to Schools
Sidewalk Project for Glenn Martin Elementary

The Safe Route to Schools  is a TDOT (Tennessee Department of Transportation) grant program to allow municipalities to improve their sidewalk infrasture to assist a safe route for children to walk or bike to school. The grant is broken into two parts $225,000.00 for construction and $25,000.00 for education and outreach. After the construction phase is complete the City, in conjunction with the schools, be hosting events such as bike rodeos, classroom education about the benefits of walking/biking to school as well as all aspects of safety that is involved.
