Mayor Of Crossville

James Mayberry

Mayor

Dear Visitor,

Welcome to the City of Crossville!  We are located atop the beautiful Cumberland Plateau on Interstate 40, only a short drive to three metropolitan cities.  Our 2,000 foot elevation offers a mild, four season climate year round.  Our rural area offers an abundance of outdoor possibilities, with mountainous wildlife reserves, lakes, streams, and the Cumberland Mountain State Park.

We are known as the Golf Capital of Tennessee.  With nine pristine courses in our community, Crossville has become a golfers' paradise of national recognition; however, the opportunities and activities are endless.  Our Cumberland County Playhouse serves more than 165,000 visitors annually and the historic Palace Theatre on Main Street is always active.  We are also the location of the United States Chess Federation headquarters, a restored railroad Depot & Caboose Visitor's Center, and part of the World's Largest Yard Sale on Highway 127 North.

Our youth opportunities abound with nine elementary schools and two high schools and we join the State of Tennessee promoting two years free post-secondary education at our Tennessee College of Applied Technology,

Please take time to navigate our website to find out more about us. The calendar of events is a good start to see what events are upcoming that you might be interested in.  We have many civic groups that are in need of volunteers.  We can put you in touch with any that you are either interested in or would like to know more about.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 931-484-5113.

"Crossville, Tennessee, it's just better here."

Nominate Your Parade Grand Marshal

The City of Crossville is looking to the community to nominate a candidate for Grand Marshal of the annual City of Crossville Christmas Parade.  We have so many deserving residents that it is hard for us to choose.  Please submit a nomination for who you believe would be a great representative of Crossville/Cumberland County so that they may be honored during the parade.  Along with your submission, include a paragraph on why that person should be the Grand Marshal of the parade.  The parade committee will review all submissions and vote for the winner.  The deadline for nominations is Friday, September 20, 2013.  Mail or deliver your entry to: Billy Loggins, 392 North Main Street Crossville, TN 38555 or email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Tennessee Senior State Open

The fourth annual Tennessee Senior State Open is returning to Crossville and Stonehenge Golf Club Monday, May 13 and Tuesday, May 14, 2013.  For the fourth consecutive year, the City of Crossville will be the title sponsor of the Senior State Open.

This year’s tournament field consists of Tennessee’s top senior professional and amateur golfers, who will provide fans with two rounds of what should be exciting and competitive play. Two-time champion Harry Taylor highlights this year’s field along with co-defending champion Danny Green.

New for 2013 is the Super Senior Division. This division is for golfers 65 years of age and older. Participants in the Super Senior Division will play from a shorter tee and will also be competing for a separate purse.

The 2013 Tennessee Senior State Open presented by the City of Crossville is open to the general public free of charge. Spectators are encouraged to attend and witness another spectacular championship.

Welcome Home Marine Sgt. Christopher Hancock

On Monday June 24th, 2013,
Marine Sergeant Christopher Hancock,
a Crossville native, will be returning home!

His plane is scheduled to land at the Crossville Memorial Airport at 4:00 pm.  While on a combat mission in Afghanistan on June 26th, 2011, Sgt. Hancock was injured when an IED (improvised explosive devise) detonated.  As a result of his injuries, Sgt. Hancock lost both of his legs.

This will be Sgt. Hancock’s first visit home since his injury and his family is trying to arrange a Welcome Home Celebration for him at the airport.  Members of the Community Band will be on hand to play for him.  There will also be local dignitaries there to welcome Sgt. Hancock.  An effort is being made to get as many people there as possible to show support for Sgt. Hancock.

Please pass the word to everyone you can think of!
Let's show Marine Sergeant Christopher Hancock how much the citizens of Crossville and Cumberland County support him and appreciate the sacrifice he made for his country!
